Reviews Overview

Most Liked

The freshness and quality of the fish stand out most at The Priory Fish Bar. Diners rave about how crispy the batter is while still being light and not greasy—an achievement that shows the care taken in preparation. Additionally, the chips are often noted for their perfect texture: thick, fluffy inside, and crunchy on the outside. Many regulars appreciate the friendly staff, whose welcoming nature creates an atmosphere that feels like home. There’s also a commendable range of options, including vegan and vegetarian choices that broaden the appeal.

People particularly enjoy the unique addition of curry sauce, which complements the meal beautifully and adds a local twist. The cleanliness of the establishment also earns high praise, as does the convenience of ordering online or enjoying outdoor seating on sunny days.

Most Disliked

While The Priory Fish Bar has received numerous glowing reviews, a few patrons note the sudden rush during peak hours can lead to a bit of waiting, especially if the place is bustling with tourists. Some also mention that, although the food is often incredible, occasionally there can be inconsistencies in portion sizes. A few past patrons have noted that on busy days, the staff might be overwhelmed, affecting service times. The location, though generally seen as convenient, lacks dedicated parking spaces, which can be inconvenient for those driving in. Lastly, there are mixed reviews about the pricing, with some feeling it could be higher than expected for takeaway, despite the quality.

My husband and I visited this place for the first time last night, and it was honestly the best decision we could have made. I went for the cod, while he had the battered sausage, and we shared the big portion of chips along with some curry sauce. As you can see, the food looked fantastic, but it tasted even better! The service was lovely too, such polite and welcoming people running the place. We’ll definitely be back again soon!

The Priority Fish Bar is hands-down one of the best fish and chip shops I've ever visited. From the moment I walked in, the staff were welcoming, friendly, and clearly take pride in what they do. The food? Next level. The fish was perfectly golden and flaky, with a light, crispy batter that wasn't greasy at all. The chips were spot on — thick, fluffy on the inside, and just the right amount of crunch. What really sets this place apart is the attention to quality and detail. Everything was piping hot and cooked fresh to order. Even the mushy peas were excellent (and that’s saying something!). The place is clean, well-kept, and you can tell it’s run with care. If you’re in the area, don’t even think twice — make The Priority Fish Bar your go-to. It’s not just a takeaway, it’s an experience. Can’t wait to come back!

I absolutely loved this place! The cod bites were the best I’ve had in London – so fresh and delicious. Every food was incredibly fresh, and you can really tell they care about quality here. I also tried the kofte and chicken shish wraps, and they were just as tasty! The warm, welcoming staff made the experience even better. I left completely satisfied and can’t wait to come back. I highly recommend this spot for a fantastic Fish and Chips experience!

I can't say I am a regular as the last time I got chips from here was when I went to St. DAVIDS school just along the road from here, when I went to the school it was an all boys school just called St David's . So the last time I went in here was in 1969 and to tell the truth the chips were very good. Glad to see it is still open but I suppose it has changed hands a few times since 1969. 👍

Crispy batter, thick fish & soft chips - what more can you want. Fish in a box & make sure you don't put any vinegar on it. I've always placed the order on the phone and then gone and picked it up.
